Make the Adjustment: A Practical Guide on How to Embrace Change, Overcome Adversity, and Improve Your Outcomes
My name is Chris Mader and I’m the author of a book about how embracing change and how making the necessary adjustments can enable anyone to achieve extraordinary things. More than just a catchphrase, Make the Adjustment is my compass for life.
I was inspired to write Make the Adjustment after three decades spending time with and observing the top 1% of business professionals and athletes around the world. I wanted to document the algorithm of how the best of the best achieve great things by adapting to change, having relentless persistence, and consistently bounce back from setbacks.
Make the Adjustment is not only intended to help someone who wants to climb the corporate ladder, but also the C-Suite executive who is stuck in a rut, struggling to grow their company, and unable explain how they got there. I’m writing this for the person who somehow lost themselves and don’t know what to do next.
Take ANY challenge in your life and the lessons from Make the Adjustment will help you improve your outcomes.
Almost all people are trying to improve. Most people want to succeed and win. The problem is at some point we all hit a roadblock. An obstacle. Something that is stopping us from making progress. Some people can adapt, implement changes, and succeed. But not everyone does. WHY?
People ultimately don’t improve their situation because they don’t have the right plan, mindset, and approach. Most importantly, they are not willing to make the adjustments necessary to change, usually due to fear or discomfort.
In this book, I present you with a proven algorithm to improve your outcomes. My hope is that you will feel reborn and invigorated, and find the courage to embark on your own journey of transformation and change.
BOOK - Make the Adjustment
The book is written in three parts...
- Part 1 frames my journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. During a career of more than thirty years in corporate boardrooms around the globe, as well as four years in professional baseball, I studied the most successful players, contributors, and leaders. Here I explain why self-awareness, improving one’s emotional intelligence, and having an owner’s mentality will help you understand why implementing change is so challenging.
- Part 2 explains the competencies required to sustain any type of transformative change. I also dive deep into why having a high level of emotional intelligence and internal locus of control are foundational components of positive change.
- Part 3 concludes with the last few but critical components of support you will need, as well as the mindset required in order to maintain and lose traction for your long-term change.
Make the Adjustment is a non-fiction book, partly a memoir and mostly motivational. This book will speak to anyone in business or athletics, especially those who are looking to implement change and find the courage and the process to execute positive change.
